Napoli Centrale

Napoli Centrale (Naples Central Station) (IATA: INP) is the main railway station in the city of Naples and in southern Italy and the sixth largest station in Italy in terms of passenger flow with an annual ridership of 50 million. It is located next to Piazza Garibaldi to the east of the old city.

The first station on the site was built in 1866 on a design by the architect Enrico Alvino and it was opened on 7 May of the following year. The current station was designed in 1954 on the site of the old railway station and overlooks the square dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi. The project was completed in 1960. Napoli Centrale is the most modern style of the old city of Naples. It is not only a transportation hub, but also a place for shopping and food.

From here you can take the train of Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii station, which takes about an hour and costs 2.8€. Purchase your train ticket to Pompeii Scavi. You can find tickets at the ticket office next to the platform or at newspaper and tobacco shops in the station. Since the train runs every 30 minutes, you don’t need to purchase the tickets in advance—you can just do it once you get to the train station (Check the train from Napoli Centrale to Pompeii here)
